Hey guys, I been getting these for years now and it's just an alert to let you know when dog food (and sometimes cat food) is recalled for various reasons. It's good to have because even if you use a good brand, it's usually one or two of the many ingredients that are bad. So you never know. I've been using Nutri Source for a while, it's kind of expensive for dog food but considering that's all your best friend asks for it's not much to give (he'll still wait to see if he gets leftovers though!).

Nutri Source, Blue Buffalo and a few others I've never seen recalled. The most commonly recalled stuff is the "human grade" fresh or frozen stuff and jerky treats come up all the time. Treats come up enough I don't even use 'em, I just give him whatever I'm eating for a treat and he likes that better anyway. If you're gonna feed your dog human food only, look up an elimination diet and talk to the vet about how to get the right nutrients in there. There's a powder you can add to ground beef and mashed potatoes that makes a dog food they go batshit over and has all the nutrients they need if you want or need to go that route (good for weeding out allergies).

They don't spam you, don't ask for anything, don't want you to click on shit. You just get an email with the info and only when there's a problem.

The worst one was a while back when some fucking shitbags in China got the great idea to increase the protein tests with melamine. That particular one made the news because hundreds of dogs died but these things happen all the time and you only find out when your dog goes into organ failure. Lots of dogs died, even some human children because they put the same shit in baby formula (I think those guys got executed for that, thumbs up on that one anyway). Lots of people found out then the dog food they had was grossly substandard and that they could have used damn near anything since damn near all of the big names were using the exact same shit. They were all poison, just at different prices.

We have used blue buffalo exclusively for our lab for the last 7 years and never had an issue or seen any recalls.
I do remember the recall on the shitbags from China though. My dog got sick for the jerky treats we were giving her. Luckily we didn’t give her too many or she probably wouldn’t be here today. Now any treats we give her come from blue buffalo.

I thank you and Nikita and Cloud thank you.

I use Taste of The Wild and am happy with it but honestly the wolves prefer....MEAT.

No problem! Glad to share it, wish I'd thought of it sooner. It's a great service, like I said, no BS, just an alert when something happens. I'm just trying to bump it up so everyone gets a chance to see it before it gets filed in the dead pages. Most of the quality dry food is good most of the time, usually the good stuff is only affected when there's a massive pollution of a common ingredient. The raw stuff, human grade stuff and jerky are the most common "bad" ones but that's usually due to bacteria.

The elimination diet is a good one to use if your dog is sick or has health issues and just can't narrow it down. Like allergies. It was the only way I could find out what was wrong with my cocker.

For treats it's just whatever I'm eating, whatever is in the fridge that won't hurt him, the only treats I ever get are dental sticks or Greenies but I understand dry kibble has the same effect.

^^^Mine eat everything. Cloud, the pup chews up 5 gallon plastic buckets and the nylon tarps I used for sun shade. Some came out in her shit. Shes a real character. Their favorite food is venison I get from the deep processor in the fall.

I avoid anything made in china or with any ingredients sourced from China like the plague.
I also avoid jerky based treats.

Most of what I feed them is just cooked chicken thighs & steaks
Then a bit of dry dog food and treats on the side.

They won't touch the cheap low grade chicken because of the chemicals it gets washed in often.
They also won't touch the low grade generic ground "mystery meat".

I buy chicken legs by Tyson at Sam's Club. YOu get about 20 of them for $6.00. They love them.

That is what my dogs are eating tonight (slow oven roasted in olive oil in a cast iron pan), about 1 pound each
Comes out good enough for humans to eat as well.
