Does anybody know the neck thickness of Peterson's 6.5 Creedmoor brass? I've ordered 350 pieces of their small rifle primer brass, and I have a set of Redding Type-S dies coming from another member that will need a bushing. I may just wait for it all to get here and take measurements then, but I am anxious to get some rounds loaded and try out my rifle. So, if anyone knows the neck thickness or what bushing they use, it'll save me some wait time.

Also, I reload but am new to precision handloading. I've read mostly about setting the final neck tension with the bushing, but I also read about making the neck slightly undersized with a bushing and then letting the expander expand it on its way out of the case. That seems like the best way to me, provided the expander is about .002" under bullet diameter. Does anybody do it this way?

Thanks! That is helpful. So based on a loaded diameter of .295, it should be about .293 before loading. So I am thinking .291 or .292 will be what I need if I am going to let the expander bring it to its final size. On a side note, I'm a machinist, so once I get my first bushing I should be able to make more if I need to by copying its dimensions and changing the bore size. In fact, I just found the dimensions on Redding's website (1/2" OD, 3/8" thick), so I might not even order one if I can get my hands on some hardened steel. Theirs is 60-62 rockwell.

When I called Peterson they recommended a .290 bushing (Berger 140 hybrids).
But, the brass is comparatively thick so I used .291.
Eventually I turned them all and settled on .290.
Experimenting now with no expander in the Redding die and my SDs are 6-7.
