What would cause this 22 Creedmoor brass to split, its once fired and split when resizing.

You can take a paperclip and bend it straight. Once straight, put a small 90 degree bend in the end of it. It needs to be short enough to go through the case mouth.

Then, run the bent tip along the inside of the other cases. You should be able to feel if there is something in the other cases, which would indicate problems.

It split when resizing? Weird.

Do you still have any new brass and any fired / non-resized brass? WOuld be interesting to see how much it grew after firing.

They can separate pretty high from headspace. Do you have any new cases to measure and see how much your fired cases have grown? I would definitely inspect them all closely. Are you sure it happened during resizing?

Open up that case and see if it cracked because the walls thinned out (you will see what looks like a ditch dug by the side of a road) or if it cracked because of a flaw in the brass. I bet it’s the latter.

I’m not sure if it split during resizing the case or if it was already split and resizing it made it worse. Just noticed it after I took it out of the shell holder. It is the only one out of 50 that this happened to. I opened the case up and it looks smooth, I don’t have any new cases to measure and compare it to.
