Rifle Scopes picatinny rings on weaver bases

which one is correct or both are?
you are not suppose to put rings that are made to go on a picatinny rail on weaver base?
but you are able to put weaver rings on a picatinny rail?

Weaver rings can go on picatinny bases but not vice versa. Found this out from experience.

I'm not sure how Burris advertises their rings but they will fit on weaver bases.

I just went through this problem last week,I have 34mm Seekins rings and a Craig Farrell 20MOA rail on my Rem 700,the rings won't fit,turns out the Craig Farrel is a Weaver Base,slots are too narrow.Ka-Ching!!! Now Im buying a Murphy Precision base as getting new 34mm rings are a lot more hassle,plus the Seekins are top notch.
