So I just picked up this beauty and it's a really great looking rifle I think. 7 digits on the serial with the last 4 on the bolt. What do you guys think? I got it for $401. Honestly I don't know about how much it would really be worth. Any thoughts to that either?

That's after Remington had gone from the hand checkering to the machine stamped checkering and the real, thick, high-gloss coating to make the stocks "look good", instead of the traditional hand rubbed finishes.

Cost reductions . . . .

I have one (700 BDL in 223) I used as a LE Counter-Sniper Rifle, I got in 1977 and carried it until I retired in 1994.

Turst me, we are both vintage. It still works, I don't (not if I can help it).
