It's the way they handle primary extraction. Standard handles use an angle on the bolt handle and an angle on the receiver to facilitate the leverage for extraction. Basically its a cam extraction.

Pivoting bolt handles don't cam. They act as a lever.

Here is a good video of Ted explaining. If it doesn't populate to the right spot, its at 14:57 mark:

Here, you can see the difference in bolt handles for the CDG. The red arrow is pointing at the cam surface on the fixed bolt handle.

If you look at the other (pivoting bolt handle), you'll see it does not hat any cam surface.

The CDG receiver has a cam surface on the actual receiver. When you use the pivoting handle, it does not come into contact with the receiver. Where the standard bolt handle will come into contact to perform the cam.

Here is the location on the CDG receiver that facilitates the contact point for the standard bolt handle.

As you can see, the pivoting handle that is installed does not have a surface to contact the circled location on the receiver.

It also changes the "feel" of running the bolt on extraction. That's pretty subjective, but a secondary pro/con.
Checked out your site, man, y'all are right in the flood zone (migrants, not water). When I owned my ranch out north of Del Rio I found most of the Border Patrol guys were pretty straight laced. How do they feel about Joe's follly at the border?

Most just go to work and come home. Do the best they can and try to focus on the things they can do something about. There's still plenty of non asylum not so harmless people trying to come across. Just gets lost in the constant news covering the asylum seekers the administration coddles to.

How do you compare the pivoting to non pivoting in feel?
IMO you lose that little tough spot or click at the top of the bolt lift. You come all the way up without resistance caused by using the ramp to start extraction. As you start to come back it just comes back smoothly or flexes slightly to lever the case out of the chamber. I never notice this flex although I'm sure it happens in some cases. At the end of the back stroke the bolt handle will flex at the bolt stop causing less impact on the stop. I can see where some people may not like that mushy flex feel at the end of the stroke but it doesn't bother me at all. The bolt handle doesn't feel like a noodle it feels more like a cushioning effect.
