12L14 costs extra, but if I am just making one of something and it does not need to be uber strong, I love working with 12L14. It has Lead in it, and that is why it cost so much and works so easily. It is still steel with the same Young's modulus [stiff, not like Aluminum] and wear resistance [not like Aluminum]
1018 is not bad.
4160 is a Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum Steel, like 4140.
4140 can be a pain. It is tool steel. If not bathed in coolant while drilling, it can get a hard spot and dull the drill. Then the drill is no good, and I need to find a carbide drill to punch through the hard spot. I do not have 115 piece Carbide drill set, so I wind up faking it. Then I learn to keep the drill wet and drill slowly.
But if you want strong, heat treated tool steel can be made to be more than twice as strong as the other above steels.
