Please forgive me if this has been discussed already but I could not find anything in the search.

Will plated rimfire ammo reduce the lead build up in your barrel/ suppressor, or does it not make much difference?

I am pretty new to rimfire shooting. I am trying to learn all I can to get my daughter started shooting pretty soon.

Thanks

Re: Plated rimfire ammo

In my experience the "copper wash" 22 ammunition is much cleaner than the non-washed and lead fouling is definitely less.

I cannot speak to suppressor cleanliness using copper washed but I would suspect that is it also cleaner running through them as well. Not so much for the lead fouling but the un-washed seem to have more of the lube on them than the copper washed do and I feel it contributes to increased fouling. I would suspect it would be seen in cans just as you see in the actions.
