Before blasting and spraying, are guys plugging the scope mount holes and action screw holes to prevent damaging the threads with aluminum oxide and also filling the threads up with cerakote? Thanks

When I blast and C-Kote bolt actions, I leave the holes open. Never had a problem with damage and the C-Kote should be applied thin enough that it doesn't cause problems.

Do you have an issue with the finish chipping when backing the screws out ? This would be simpler even though the chip would be under the scope base it would bug me .

Have you ever shot CeraKote before ? If not, a couple of recommendations;

1. Get a good respirator, don't scrimp on it, it's your health you're protecting.
2. Shoot in a well ventilated area. I didn't used to mind shooting paint. CeraKote is nasty stuff, it changed my mind.
3. Buy the Iwata gun that CeraKote recommends/sells. Don't even attempt to shoot with an airbrush. It won't work.
4. If you aren't going to be doing multiple jobs, it doesn't make economic sense to buy all the parts/pieces to do only one shoot.
5. The usual stuff about prep.......don't Bead Blast. Use Aluminum Oxide @ ~ 80 PSI. Don't cut corners on prep. You'll just flush time/money down the drain and ruin the job.

If you haven't shot CeraKote before, seriously consider sending your parts to a certified applicator. Pay them to do it.
