Which is newer?
The latest gas plugs are not printed N and S, but have one side with kind of a double cutout and raised center on it-that goes up for normal operation (and will go on the one with the larger number prefix on the serial number if the prefixes are different).
Measure your gas pistons with calipers, the 308 should be .430" in diameter, if they are both .430" then there's not a difference-different diameter pistons bleed the gases off at different rates.
Once you get them all figured out, don't take them both apart and mix all the parts together unless you know what's what.
