There’s a lot of bashing lately
    This doesn’t get posted enough.

Going to pay a ticket for tinted windows (state police written, I didn't even know the car had tinted driver / passenger windows when I bought it that's how little tint there is).

Just the other day local pd drove by with windows tinted so dark I couldn't tell if anyone was in the vehicle.

Rules for thee not for me is a huge shift from the "public servants" we were sold initially. Can't think of one time a policeman has helped me personally

I wish people would stop imagining they work in a war zone.

Bureau of Labor has stats on lawnmowing supervisors being killed? Mowing lawns? I am surprised those guys would call for help because that might bring the policia.

Anyway, so, yeah, it's not a competition to see how many died. All of those deaths are mainly by accident. No malignant intent. Also, the OP did say count the numbers. It said to be thankful for the service. And that you might have more of a leg to stand on when complaining if you have been behind the badge. And I no some critics here have. So, I am not disqualifying some of those opinions, either.

There is also no use in re-inventing the wheel. Fix the wheel that we already have.

Oh it’s better than that. Drive by locals houses here and their personal cars are limo tint too

Local tint places offer free replacement when you get hit by a tint ticker. Peel it off. Get the fix it ticket signed. They re install new for free. Local large landscaping business owner did that , same cop pulled him over threatened to take him to jail if he catches them again.

99 percent are chicken shit and 99 percent have inferiority complexes / very insecure.

They’re like politicians. A few might be ok when they join but after a year or 2 they are just as rotten as the rest.

Next time you get pulled over ask the officer for a social worker to respond cuz you’re in crisis, then shit yourself. Guaranteed he’ll let you go.

More LEO died from accidents than being murdered last year. It’s close, but still more

My father passed away this April. He retired from the police department, then worked with the US Marshals, retired again. While with the marshals he was asked by the church to be a deacon. He took it very seriously and put his whole heart and being into it. I wish my dedication to others was as strong as his. However, I am good friends with one of his former colleagues while he was a police officer. Some of the stories I have heard are HILARIOUS!!! It was never where an individual was wronged, it was usually some teenager type behavior while on duty. When I’d ask dad about such and such it was a shit eating grin as the memory ran through his mind. I miss hearing the other side of the story. It wasn’t typically the other side though. More of a confirmation of questionable behavior early in his career. I’m looking forward to visiting our friend at the lake next month. I don’t know that we’ll get to visit many more times due to his age.

Can you give me the cliff notes? I was looking at the site and trying to find where it says that more cops died from accidents than violent acts. That's the detail I want to see.

And what is not necessarily shown in your post is relative sample size. How many more farmers and construction workers than cops?

For example, there are deaths by transportation accidents. And those who work in the transportation industry suffer the highest rate of fatal injury.

So, to me, just saying less cops die than fisherman is not a valid comparison without all the details.

I appreciate the way two cops pull you over and approach your car, hands on guns, one on either side of car. They then write you a safety belt ticket because they are concerned for your health and safety. Get in their cars and drive away sans safety belt.

It’s so touching that they care about me.

The best is to get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt from a cop on a motorcycle.......... 🤔

I stand with the thin green line, the only thing protecting you from Karen on the HOA board's fines. When I see one of those heroes I tell them gracias por su servicio

I think some of you are missing something. There are different kinds of law enforcement. There is a difference between sitting in an office and writing warrants and responding to calls for service. The latter puts you in contact with danger a lot more often than the former. The former waters down the stats.

And then there’s fugitive apprehension which is the most dangerous of all.

Most of the danger is automobile accidents and police killed between 1100-1300 people last year. Civilians are almost 23 times more likely to be killed by police in that case.

94 of the 167 deaths last year were a majority accidents or health related including 3 “accidental shootings” so NDs. 25 of those were 9/11 related illness, and 17 were heart attacks.

Because there’s no desk jobs and different levels of danger in the 25 occupations more dangerous than taxing and harassing
