Don't know if this should be here or the Hunting/Fishing section. Post up pics if you have them. Of course the rifle in the pic would make it that much better.

Re: Post your rimfire kills

is that a 17 hmr, 22 mag, or simply a 22 LR.

I punched a field lion last week with my 22lr handgun but no pics. The crow shot looks familiar with a 17 hmr though.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Reposts permitted?

My most memorable kill from this past summer:

Groundhog @ 325 yards. CCI Velocitors.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Pretty good stuff!

Hey Matt--how much up for that 325 yarder--~50 MOA? How many shots? It really is an amazing shot--well done!

Forget the rifles though. Pistols are where it's at--

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Pistols are a ton of fun but I am just getting into that. I remember like 41 MOA of up. Couldn't see my first two and then 5th shot was a hit and instant kill. Going to try some long range, open sight revolver shooting this winter.

-Deadly Punk.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

pretty cool--must be a record for the longest groundhog ever killed with a 22, ehh?

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

CZ 455 16.5" barrel threaded and YH Mite suppressor w/ remy subs did the trick on these two pot sized porkers. Both were shot in the dark waiting for the sun to come up. one was DRT the other ran about 10yrds. shot one behind the ear and the other behind the shoulder.

I did them both at 100yrds in about 30 seconds.........

Is that an adjustable cheek-piece on the 455 original stock?

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

sscoyote: I doubt that it's a record of any sort, but it proved to me that I still have plenty of power left even at 200+ for thin skinned varmints/game as long as the bullet lands in the vitals.

SingleShot, fantastic shooting! How do you feel about coyote/fox with a .22 LR using chest shots? It seems like my trusty velocitors ought to do the job with a solid chest shot on either species inside 100 yards? Maybe not DRT, but death within a couple minutes? Guess maybe that's a mute point as anything inside 100 is a relatively easy head shot anyway.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Where are all the ditch tigers??

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Emouse, no shame in any of those kills. That squirrel pic is one to be proud of, as is the porker with the Condor? Talon?

The Talon was a .25 cal build and I believe he was using H&N Barracuda lead pellets. Just a 30gr projectile but the shot was front on to the skull at about 30yds. Dropped the porker stone dead.

The other pics are a UK spec Stealth,..just 12ft/lb of muzzle energy but again clean kills at 30-45yds and just 16grs of lead projectile.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Emouse, know all about FAC. On a few British hunting boards. DFOOSKING, what ammo were you using? I've been wondering if the .22 subs would be too much for barns and silos.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

You put enough spices in and you can make good (enough) jerky out of these guys:

These don't need as much:

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Have some good kill shots with .22 cal air rifle but need some help posting them. Anyone? I don't see how to get to my browser from here.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Waiting to see a deer kill posted in here.

Despite the controversy it would bring, that would be worth seeing.

It means, pretty much, exactly what was written...

It's still impressive to see big game brought down with rimfire or air rifle, but it also causes a lot of people to complain about the ethics of it. Mainly complaining about if the round was just slightly off and caused the animal to not die in a relatively quick and humane way that larger caliber rifles generally do. I personally don't have any opinion on, if you're confident on your round placement, then by all means, have at it.

-Edit-
Just realized you are also the poster of the Africa hunt. To me, getting something like that with just an air rifle, is quite impressive. What caliber is the rifle?

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

I beleive it was .458. All these guns are custom. And yes, shot placement is king.

.308 anchors yotes on the spot.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Maybe a I should have started a separate airgun thread?

Keep posting pics. Thanks to all that have posted already.

from the FAQs:

To place an image within a message, simply use the following Markup Tag:

image_name.gif

For example, if you have an image called cateye.gif and its available from your own website at http://www.mywebsite.com/pics, then you would use the following image markup:

cateye.gif

You can do the same for your signature. Click the My Home option found on any page. Then, under the Main Configuration heading, click on "Personal Information, email, password...". Look for the Signature box, and enter your desired information, including any images/markup as above.

Note: To keep the forums loading quickly for everyone, it is recommended that you do not exceed 35k for your image size.

Do you by any chance eat the squirrels or just shoot them to get rid of them for being pests? I've been getting into arguments (Not to serious though) with some friends who think I am a nutter for suggesting eating squirrels on camping trips.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Squirrel is good to eat. My grandma used to pressure cook it till the meat fell off the bones then make dumplings. I've roasted many over a small campfire along with fish they are good eating.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

as a game animal, i eat 'em. sorry, not eat but "dine" on them.

either in a marsala wine sauce, honey roasted w/ crab meat stuffing, homemade sweet and sour sauce, even a deboned buffalo squirrel dip. beer battered and fried too.

i put too much time and effort into them to even let them rot on the ground, not to mention it's unethical / illegal in my neck of the woods.

an old thread, but recipes none the like:

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1337891

how to dress out a squirrel:

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2381541

though i now prefer taking turkey with the .22mag, today i filled a tag while goose hunting with the shotgun....felt a bit guilty....not much of a challenge with the scatter gun....not much sport within this one, was more like killin than huntin.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Glocker17, I was gonna say I will come visit you if you need a partner in crime, but looking at where you are located, the coyotes you see might be more than I am willing to shoot at. Maybe they are running the right way now the Halfrican Part 2 has started.

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

Maybe I can convince my father to take a drive with me. Any good shopping across the border? 6 hour drive. I forget how big Texas is living in a prefecture the size of DFW

11B-B4, if you don't post more pics like that I will have you banned from my thread!

Just kidding. One of my goals with my Savage MK2 is to drop a crow. I have started several crows with rifles threads on several sites. On another note, how is the Falcon working for that distance? I wonder how far out the FFP starts to be a hindrance on small targets.

honestly i dont have any falcons anymore. at one point i had 3 of them. They were so close... but the optical quality was just not good enough i felt. And the stadia were too thick. I am in the process of upgrading optics. Not sure what to get. I have an NSX on my cz right now... but it has a 50y parallax. I might try out a bushnell next. Crow hunting is fun though

Re: Post your rimfire/airgun kills

.17hmr tucked in between a couple of ribs and stopping in the vitals, put this doggy's face in the dirt. He was running full speed away from me at about 40yds. This was my first time shooting a 'yote in the vitals with the .17. I've always put one in the noggin'. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick he got dead!
