Hey folks! I have been reading threads on this forum for quite some time and finally decided to take the plunge.

I was having a conversation with a friend a few days ago about what a practical magazine capacity would be for our POF P308s in the event of a SHTF crisis the POF P25 mag or the Magpul 20LR?

Both rifles are built for different missions. His is the 14.5" with a Leupold Mark 4 1-3x14mm CQ/T, Harris bipod and Command arms SRS stock. My rifle is the 20" version and is currently being built into an SPR configuration. Right now I have the same CAA SRS stock, and a GG&G heavy duty Bipod. Im ordering my NF NXS F1 3.5-15x50 in a about a month but currently have troy HK micro BUIS so I can get out and shoot. Do you think that 5 extra rounds in the magazine would out weigh the extra weight factor for either configurations?

The fact that you can buy 4 pmags to 1 pof mag would answer the question for me right there. Assuming both mags are reliable, more mags are better than less. The extra 5 rounds is a non-factor for weight, so I'd rather have 4 loaded Pmags available for every 1 POF mag.

I think I would rather have MidwestPX cut down Magpul mags with 15rd. capacity, for prone shooting.

That said, the SHTF scenario doesn't get much pull around here.

Well isn't that handy. Didn't know about the cut P mags. Also I fly out to CA on occasion for shooting trips so 10 round Pmags would come in handy.

I'll keep the SHTF thing in mind thanks.

Re: Practical Magazine cap for AR-10s?

I have a 16" AR-10t, tried the 25, 20, and 15 round mags. I only use the 15 round ones, and will eventually trade off the last 2 25s for additional 15 round mags. The higher cap mags were just too long, and too heavy for what I use my rifle for.
