Gunsmithing Pre bedded rifle stock

Hey guys.

After a google search and an advanced google search I could not find the answer to my question so here goes. Every so often I see what I call a "pre bedded rifle stock" in the for sale items. Someone else has bedded their stock for let's say a 700 short action and I just happen to be in the market for a 700 short action stock. The great thing is,I don't have to spend the extra money on having it bedded. SWEET! Is it a good assumption that the pre bedded stock will fit my action and recoil lug?

Plan on bedding the stock. "pre-bedding" and getting no stress is not going to happen in most cases with a Rem 700. You have factors such as if the action was trued, recoil lug is not straight, and other issues.

Putting an action in a stock bedded for a different gun is hit/miss.

Kinda along the same lines as buying a mattress from a hotel that offers an hourly rate. . .

Chad,
you crack me up! I bet the (stock)bedding would require less "clean up" than the mattress. Good point though...

Guess that's all I need to know, pre bedded stock = accidental case of crabs. NOTED!
