Rifle Scopes Pre set parallax 35 yards sufficient?

Re: Pre set parallax 35 yards sufficient?

I think the older leupold 3.5-10x40 with the 1"tubes were set for parallax at about 50 yards I have used this scope at many a law enforcement training classes. I have shot from as close as 7yards out to 750 yards with the same scope and I never noticed any problems with it

I have always kept my dept rifle zero'd for 100 yards and in training when a shot was taken closer like around 25 seemed to be fine

Re: Pre set parallax 35 yards sufficient?

Different manufactures set the parallax at to many ranges to answer. Rimfire scopes will be close to 50yrds, centerfire will be 150yrds or so. The more consistantly you can line up behind your rifle, will lessen the parallax error.

Re: Pre set parallax 35 yards sufficient?

A scope set for 35 yards is not sufficient for 100 meter target shooting.
The picture is not sharp and you will obviusly have a paralaxproblem.

However its very easy to adjust the paralax on mostly scopes with fixed paralax and that cures the problems.
I have changed my scopes for my .22 and airrilfes to 20-50 yards depending on the gun.

So I wouldent hesitate to buy a scope with a short paralax to alter it to 100 yards.
