Im going to be purchasing my first bolt gun in the near future. You guys are making this very hard to choose. Ive had my eye on the gap crusader, though ive thought about just having a smith build it so i can purchase 1 piece at a time and not have to break the bank all at once on a gap. Super nice rifle guys. It will be for minor target shooting at range and mostly for hunting. Got my eye set on .243. Any suggestions ? :)

I can't wait to try this with some factory Lapua 155 Scenars!

Nice rifle and caliber. What powder / load are you using with the 162 AMAX?

Thunderbeast 30P-1

7-08 through a direct thread-on .308 can... I don't get any POI shift to speak of with this set up and a 17" barrel.

162 Amaxs and 168 Bergers, not sure how fast theyre going.

Does Winchester make a bolt with the .585 bolt face for the Laupa or did you buy a .375 H&H action and open up the bolt face?

No, I bought a brick of chromoly and started machining. One piece bolt. This was a 5 year project. I made every part on that receiver/bolt. Only thing I didn't make was the extractor retaining ring around the bolt. Got lazy cause I just wanted to finish it.

This is why serial number is: One of One. Box checked, onto the next project!

GAP 300 Blackout with 16" barrel, Manners carbon folder stock
USO scope. YHM muzzle break for Phantom suppressor. I have only put about 40 rounds through it.

That's a sweet rifle! I really have been thinking about getting a .300 blackout just for kicks. How quiet is it when suppressed? YouTube doesn't give much of an accurate idea of sound so I like to hear opinions from someone who has one.

With subsonics it's truly is whisper quiet. With supers it is as loud as a clap of the hand. I haven't put many rounds through it yet. Need it to stop raining here on the weekends.

Awesome! What kind of stock is that? I'm really considering a carbon stock for a lightweight build .

It was made by aerospace guy in Prescott, Az. Weighs less than 1# without adjustable crap on the back and the recoil pulse is different than glass stocks. But the gun still weighs a ton and right now I have almost 4# of lead in the butt to offset suppressor use. As pictured it weighs almost 19# but it is very stiff.

Why did you choose that scope?
What is your experience on it?

I use this rifle primarily for hunting. Being the careful and conservative guy I consider myself to be I generally don't like firing at big game from more than say 200 yards, give or take. This scope has a built-in range finder with automatic bullet drop compensation, so I get an illuminated aiming dot computed from the ballistics data I enter for my ammo. And it actually works with remarkable precison, allowing me to add an additional 100+ yards (depending on wind conditions) to my "comfort zone".

The rig is very accurate, but since I've not yet taken the scope for a real long range spin I should probably stay off that subject. While I suspect that range and bullet drop is handled quite nicely there still remains the issue of wind drift to be handled manually. So my $0.02 is that the biggest practical gain with the Eliminator 3 be an increase in precision and confidence at medium ranges.

Just picked up my Rem 700 in 300 Win Mag from the gunsmith after 7 weeks away.

Carl Gustaf 3000 Sporter, 6.5x55, laminated valnut wood stock. Built on Sauer 80 LA. EAW rail. Factory brake.

Possibly the fastest doubletap boltaction rifle ever made.

I know this is a really old post, but it came up with an internet search today while I was looking for more info on these rifles for someone else. I have a CG3000 in Canada, and it's probably my favourite rifle. I've also got a Kongsberg 393 target rifle in 308 to keep it company. Both seem to be fairly uncommon rifles on this side of the ocean at least. Turns out I tried to buy the Kongsberg several years before I actually got it, not one like it, but that exact rifle. It's the only one I've ever seen for sale in Canada.
