Lightly Blast the stock. Turn the pressure down in your blast cabinet and stand back a little and lightly etch the stock. Then blow off real good and coat. I use the Cerakote oven cure on the stock and cure it at 170 degrees F for 2 hours and it will work perfect.. I have done about 15 Mcmillan stocks with the Cerakote oven cure. You can't beat the Cerakote.. That is some good stuff. I wouldn't put that Dura Coat on anything I own.. Any more questions please let me know.

Rub the stock down with Scotch-Brite pad, and then wipe down with alcohol. No need to blast and if this is done and you're not careful you will damage the gel coat and this will lead to other problems. McMillan painted stocks are more forgiving if low pressure blast is used.
You can use oven cured Cerakote but you also need to be careful, if the resins get too hot they will leach to the surface and ruin the paint. The resin in the stock can also form a pinhole void that will also show up in the surface paint.
You are better off using air cured Cerakote. Fully cures in five days as to three weeks for Duracoat to fully cure.

Duracoat on stocks. Most stocks just need scuffing and wiping with alcohol or acetone, but any spray paint needs to come completely off. YMMV-Rob

Not trying to knock you but 170*F will pop the mold lines on some synthetic stocks not to mention affect bedding. I would highly recommend against 170*F
Lower temp and longer bake times or use the ambient cure. Oven cure is a touch more durable.
