Maybe my Google Fu isn't a good as I thought but Ii haven't found much info on how much prep is needed for new Hornady brass? I have found a lot of posts calling it crap or gold but not quite what I am looking for. I have heard in the past that that with Lapua all you need to do to is just load and go. Is Hornady Premium Brass like that or do I still need to run all the same steps I would with Winchester brass? Also I read some one (<span style="color: #009900">Rob01</span>) saying they trimmed all of them to the same length at the start is that right? I thought you were suppose to use the chamber gauge and wait till they stretch out to match the chamber then start trimming? I have a 6.5CM being built and am trying to refine my methods and equipment to match. I figure if I'm gonna drop the cash on accuracy I better do it on both sides of the equation right?Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Prepping Hornady 6.5CM Brass

Virgin Creedmoor brass just make sure the mouth is round from any shipping/handling damage that can occur and chamfer the inside of the mouth so the bullet doesn't get scratched up while seating. Same thing I used to do to Lapua brass.

Once it's fired then size it bumping the shoulder back about .001-002" max, trim/chamfer/deburr the mouth, and clean/uniform primer pocket and then load.

I trim all mine to the factory recommended trim length of 1.920".
