Ural Airlines flight makes emergency landing in a field in Russia after pilot feared running out of fuel

A passenger plane has landed in a field in Russia’s Novosibirsk region on Tuesday after its pilot feared there may have not been enough fuel to make it to an airport, reports say.

Reality, the plane probably shouldn’t have been flying. There haven’t been parts for Boeings or Airbus in Russia for over a year even though they claim otherwise.

I would personally like to know more about this because the loss of the system in and of itself doesn’t cause increase burn until the gear is lowered but if the PTU is functional all hydraulic systems will operate normally with longer landing distance required.

Maybe the flaps and gear dropped, you dirty up a large aircraft like that and your gonna burn some fuel…..

Flaps are electrically activated and hydraulically actuated. they wont move in a loss of hydraulics. they will remain in a fixed position. it takes an electrical signal for them to move.

As for the gear dropping, both the green, yellow systems and PTU would have to fail for that to happen, if it even could. a failure of the pumps alone wouldnt cause this, it would have to be a leak and total loss of fluid and pressure, that maybe could cause the uplocks to disengage...but i doubt it.

Actually news in Europe and US should go like this:

Ural pilot abuses perfectly good aircraft and deliberately tries to kill people and ruin crops BUT integrated AI system managed to override incompetent russian pilot (everyone knows military pilots from Russia cannot keep formation - or find keys to their Su's and MIg's) and safely automatically lands itself without even touching one plant in the field (it also send email to the farmer that soon might be right time to harvest the field as it feels quite ready - but i digress). After rescue services arrived and plane was vacated it decided that it should park itself back into its hangar awaiting more capable pilot and ordering for itself best 5W40 jug o'oil Russia can import steal from neighbors.
