When I deprime my federal brass for my 308 or 243 I can't seat another prime in the pocket. It looks like the pocket has part of the old primer still in there. Is this normal? I've never ran across this with my hornady, win, or rp brass. Thanks for any info.

Re: Priming federal brass

Some of the new Fed brass has the military crimp. I am sure that is what you are seeing. I have found it on the .223 77 gr SMK and I seem to remember it on some FGMM .308 Win as well. I assumed it was for a military contract. Odd as most of the Mil match ammo does not have the crimp. Who knows. I am sure you will need to remove the crimps.

Yep it's fgmm 308, 77smk 223, and barnes tsx in 243. It's the only federal brass I have. I wasn't thinking it was crimp since it wasn't mil ammo and it wasn't notch style crimps. Now I know, thanks for the help.
