Picked up some .308, LC Match, OFB cases and can't seem to get 'em to size correctly. Using the usual RCBS Full Length Sizing Die and have it maxed out. They've been cleaned and primed. Any thoughts or suggestions sincerely appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Problem Reloading .308 LC Match Cases

Need more data.

Does "maxed out" mean the bottom of the die is being firmly contacted by the shellholder/shellplate on the press's cam-over part of the stroke?

Does "can't seem to get 'em to size correctly" mean they won't chamber in your rifle with whatever chamber/headspace it has that we don't know the values on?

If they won't chamber, WHERE is the bind? A circumferencial bind on the case body usually requires the over-sold small base die. A bind on the shoulder because of excessive cartridge length to the data line ("headspace") might not be cured by a small base resizing die. Cartridges sizing too long can be fixed by shaving the right number of thousandths off the bottom of the die, or similar amount of shaving on the shell holder. Shellplates can be a bit more tricky.

Re: Problem Reloading .308 LC Match Cases

I reload a lot of the LC match brass, have found this problem when I first started using it. I bottomed out my die with my press at top of stroke. Then I turned an 8th of a turn, sized a case, then tried to chamber. Did this until it fit, seems to have fixed problem for me. The small base dies would work great, just did not own when I was having the problem.
