Projectile VLD for 6br.

Hi!

I shoot the lapua scenar 105g (6br) with a lot of pleasure and success until 800m(sub moa at this distance). But at 1000m the results are very random.

Do you think the berger 105g VLD will really fix my problem?

Nope,
The 6BR really starts to lose its legs past 600yrds, I'm not saying it can't go past but the elements are your enemy beyond that. Another bullet isn't gonna change that, thats why the BRx, Dasher, 6XC, ect came about, more case capacity = more juice!...just my opinion.

I do not know the answer, but there are many good posters on line that dispute what twist rate [8" vs 10"] it takes to stabilize the 6mm 95 gr VLD at long range.

I think you are right. When this bore will be dead i'll probably change for a bigger caliber but i really don't know wich one!!...something can fit my small action Rem700.
Maybe 6.5x47L, in a 28" bore...

Depending on the specific bullet used, a 6BR shooting 105-107s should have ballistics at range quite similar to, if not better than, a 308 shooting 175s.

105gr Berger Hybrid has a fairly substantial 0.075 BC difference over the 105gr Scenar; I'd think that'd get you to 1000 pretty well.

It's possible to do it with 6br, it's just easier with the bigger wildcats.

I just get some berger hunting vld 105gr, BC is .532 (the target vld is .493!)
The BC of Lapua 105gr is .472
JBM give 200m more to the berger hunting vld to get subsonic (V0=870m/s).
I will be ok if i am able to shoot under 2moa (maybe 1.5moa, who knows...?)with my 6br

at 1000m
I already know that with my actual load (30gr of n540, lapua scenar 105) that is possible to shoot sub moa at 850m, what is not so bad, do you agree guys?
