Proof ar-10 6.5 creedmore load help

Have you tried any of the store bought ammo for the 143 eldx and the 140 ELDs?? I always find thats a good place to start because, one it gives you some fire formed brass to start reloading with and you get to find out if your barrel even likes that particular projectile. Once you try a handful of different box ammo I would then start at 40grs of H4350 and move up .2 increments.

I've noticed in the past with others either purchasing complete rifles with the proof carbon fiber barrels or doing home builds that they can be quite finicky in Large Frame ARs, to this day I still don't think I've ever seen a 6x5 shot from a proof carbon fiber Barrel yet on the Hide. That's the main reason why I haven't been sold on the idea yet and I still stick to Krieger or Bartlein Barrels.

Well if factory ELDX shot accurately, measure ELDX box ammo from the ogive and get the average so at least you can start with bullet seating depth in a good place.

Then start like everybody else does with load development in .2 increments of H4350. Because the chances of anyone else load data matching your Barrel exactly the same is slim to none. You could also start by letting people know what bolt you're running, if you're not running a HP bolt then loads are going to start lower anyway.

I have owned over 15 large frame precision AR’s and closer to 30 small frame precision AR platforms in the past 15 years.
I have had three Proof barrels on AR platforms and they all were outstanding. I’ve owned two in 6.5 CM and one in 6.5 Grendel and they all hold amazing accuracy out to 600m+. I have one new Proof 5.56 Wylde 1/8 barrel that I will try to shoot in the next few weeks and I’m excited to see what it does.
Both Proof barrels like the cheap Hornady American Gunner 140 Match Ammo and shoots it around 3/4 MOA or better!
I also hand load for my Mega AR10 6.5 CM and it’s a hammer out to 800m and have seriously out shot guys that are running 6.5 CM bolt guns.
I don’t really shoot paper but I generally like to start my LR shooting on paper to confirm my zero.
Here is a group I shot a few months ago although this is a cherry picked group I really feel I could do a 5x5 and it not shoot over 3/4 and hopefully average 1/2 to 5/8.
What most guys don’t realize is that shooting a large frame gas gun is like trying to get on a wild Mustang and riding off into the sunset. They will challenge some of the best shooters and they all seem to need to be held a little different.
I’ve seen guys cuss their $6k KAC stating they don’t shoot under 1.5 MOA and then a experienced shooter gets behind it and shrink it down to 3/4.

The above statement is 100 correct!..lol

One of the things I tell people when I take them out to learn how to shoot Semi-Automatic gas powered large and small frame rifle platforms is, if you become a proficient shooter with Large Frame Semi-Automatic Rifles I guarantee that it will make you into a exceptional Bolt Action Rifle Shooter. Not ever the other way around.
