Med cal is 30 cal@THEIS would probably know this but what is the military definition of medium caliber? Across the range of military “guns”, that could be .50 cal to 20mm maybe? Always thought carbon barrels should be on aircraft which still employ guns. Spitballing here…
No shit. Exactly what I was thinking. Slid in 2 rifles just in time.Well. thank goodness I got some before the $ went up due to being "mil spec".![]()
Wonder how carbon fiber would hold up to the heat from rapid firing weapon systems?@THEIS would probably know this but what is the military definition of medium caliber? Actually you are not far of base, we are working with a local CF barrel manufacturer on barrel projects for X European military and some of the requirements were aimed not as much into weight reduction as into dampening vibrations and increasing the barrel accuracy. Some of the barrels were as heavy as the metal ones but grouped near 50% better .Knowing the .mil, they probably spec’s the proof research barrels to be 1.5x heavier than a regular all steel barrel.
