Proof Research steel barrel for AI

I'm able to buy a new Proof Research prefit steel barrel for my AI AX short action for under $500. Specs are it comes threaded 5/8×24, 24" barrel, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I know a lot of guys rave about their carbon wrapped barrels, but I haven't seen much talk about their all-steel barrels. Any reviews? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

I got one in 6.5PRC for my AXMC and it shoots great. I don't even have 100 rounds through it yet but it's shooting tight groups. Best was just under 1/2 MOA and worst are still right around 1MOA. I think the groups are more factor of me than the barrel though.

Steel proof 6.5creed on my at, now the barrel is on an ae mk2. They shoot and its fast, 20".

Would you guys happen to know if a MTU or Proof Competition profile will fit inside a AX308 (Short Action) handguard?

I'm thinking of getting a custom bbl for my AX-SA and the MTU and Proof Competition are the thickest tapered profiles. Looking at 23"-24" bbl.

MTU - 4" straight cylinder then tapers to 0.925"-0.930"
PC - 6" straight cylinder then tapers to 0.975"-0.980"

By chance is this through ExpertVoice? And if so l, did you buy and was there tax and shipping fees? And how long for delivery.... I've been lurking them for awhile.

Best not to discuss any pricing details for expertvoice. Whatever mechanism used to order one, you may have up to a 8-12 week wait depending on inventory.

OK, the way I read it was that someone posted they had a sub $500 price and you then asked if that was through ExpertVoice, thus tying the quoted price to ExpertVoice if they confirmed.

To answer your question though - ExpertVoice does charge tax & shipping to most states. If you have access to it and a product you can always add the product to your cart and get most of the way through checkout with ExpertVoice to see full costs w/shipping & possible tax.

These i believe are from proof, and is a set contour, which is on their (proof research) website.
