For a Remington based 338LM action, what are my upsides and downsides of a standard style(mcmillan, manners, etc...) Stock vs. a chassis system(AI, xlr etc...) Im ready to get my gun back.together but im still torn on what setup to run....

Stock vs Chassis System.
You probably know as much as I do, or more, but having shot many of both, I have seen reliable tack drivers of both kind. To me, it would be more of a feel for a certain stock, or chassis system, ergonomic preferences and looks. This would be based from a civilian perspective.
If you look at it from a LEO, or Military perspective, it would be mission oriented and what would be the best tool for the job. I must say that I probably would go with a different action but this would be a matter of personal choice.
I am sure that someone with more technical knowledge will bring up some interesting factors.
Good shooting.

Re: pros/cons: std stock vs. chassis system

I would like to use a diff action, actually just a whole custom setup but this setup started life as a 700p .338 so thas why im using it...
This is somewhat of a semi-custom build i guess. Just wanted to add a stock/chassis, good optics, and a suppressor and enjoy it. I didnt really want to.wait a year on a full custom build. Im only hoping for a 1200-1500 yard gun...just wanted to used the stock action and barrel since i have it already..

I have a 338 in a HS adjustable stock, and a GAP 260 in a Whisky Chassis.
I like the big round but I cant get "comfy" behind it in the HS
The chassis with few more adjustments is so much easier for me to shoot.
You may fit or address a rifle differently
