low power too high for most field applicatios

</div></div> This is the real question that needs to be asked. Yes, 8.5x is too low for a lot of field applications, but without knowing the OP's application how do we know?

If I'm asking about the pros and cons of a .480 Ruger but state nothing else in my post, someone might tell me it sucks for concealed carry when I intend on hunting bear with it.
