Prosecutors in Colorado plan to drop charges against a registered sex offender accused of trying to kidnap a child from an elementary school because he was found incompetent to stand trial.

The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, which covers Arapahoe County and includes Aurora and Littleton, informed FOX31 on Friday that it intends to dismiss charges against Solomon Galligan. The 33-year-old faces one count of attempted kidnapping after he allegedly tried to take an 11-year-old boy during recess at Black Forest Hills Elementary School in April 2024.

Aurora police previously reported that Galligan is a registered sex offender, with his registration tied to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

perfect example of why the legal system in the "west" needs to be scrapped and rewritten from the bottom up. justice for a victim is of no importance at all. it's how the lawyers on both sides play the game. guilt or innocence is never an issue.
in the UK rag head rapists of 13 yo girls are released because they didn't know that rape was illegal there. but here the cops can kill you because they raided the wrong house. if you are found innocent of a crime, you are ruined financially and rep is destroyed because you were arrested.
big cities here and Europe violent crimes are OK because- fill in the appropriate progressive excuse.

What a load of shit - the kids parents should pay him a visit to help educate him since he’s so ignorant.

Or since he’s a minority and stupid as fuck maybe the local constabulary could go to his residence and go inside without a warrant and beat him senseless every day - maybe take no days off to make sure their ticket books are in good order . Seems they do these things on the regular against citizens. They could even throw him face first into the co concrete like they do to old men at traffic stops .
And who would complain protecting the folk from the wolves ?

Is it not common policy in most areas to forcibly commit criminals like this?

It most certainly is.

foxnews.com: no mention of disposition
nypost.com: “…committed into mental health treatment.”
denver7.com: “...the defendant will be civilly committed for mental health treatment. Contrary to what has been reported, the defendant is not being released out in the public.”
wbznewsradio.iheart.com: no mention of disposition
kdvr.com: no mention of disposition

However…

I suppose leaving that out gets one’s juices of indignation flowing, with the “progressive prosecutor” and all…

Many of the titles deliberately make the suggestion that the perp would walk free to good theatric effect, and we bit like the suckers that we were.

Even the original foxnews.com article cited in the first post mentions waaay at the bottom that they revised the original title, but made no mention of the perp being committed (might have missed the latter, if it was memtioned).
