Is anyone using either? I have some Hornady left over from commercial ammo. I am about to order some brass and the PRVI brass is less than half the cost of Lapua brass with the Hornady being 20-30 more than PRVI.

Any info you can give is appreciated.

Re: PRVI & Hornady 338 Lapua brass

I'm thinking of ordering the PRVI stuff for 113.05 shipped, but the Hornady is 139.99 shipped.

Both are considerably better than the Lapua brass. The PRVI could be purchased twice for the price of the Lapua. So if you get half as many rounds out of them you should be good to go.

I just wonder what the quality is like and what the case capacity is like compared to Hornady/Norma/Lapua.

You get what you pay for. I went down that road for my 308. Found I could get military brass for far less than Lapua. In the end I wound up with the Lapua anyway. Their brass is top notch. I figured that since I had the money to spend on the 338 and several k to drop on a scope the brass is the least of my worries.

I have loaded with all three types. And they have all worked pretty well. I will say that on the third loading of the prvi i had some brass failures. The hornady it didnt start to happen till the 4th or 5th loading (primer pockets started to loosen) And the hornday brass was loaded a little hot but not to max. Some of my lapua brass is at it 6th loading and thus far zero problems. I will be sticking with the hornady and lapua in the shots to come. IMHO

I'm on my 11th cycle with Lapua and have 6 on some Norma (20). I did have one Norma neck split after 2 cycles.

Lapua is expensive, so is Norma, but pockets are still tight on all of them.

I guess you get what you pay for?

Yeah. I went ahead and ordered the Hornady. I have 40 pieces of Hornady from commercial ammo here. I might regret not ordering the Lapua but I probably won't put 500 rounds down the tube this year, so I guess next time I'll order Lapua.
