Well, I got my Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 mounted in an HK 30mm claw mount and it BARELY clears the charging handle. Mine has a larger one (from an HK-21). Eye relief is 4" this will be the deciding factor as to whether the setup "works" or not, I think it will though. I shoot left-handed so I'll kind of have to "reach around" and when releasing it, just using my right thumb (no "HK SLAP").
So in case you were wondering, it CAN work but iron sights are blocked (the tip of the front sight post). Hope to get to the range this weekend.
Rifle is a PTR-91 with shallow flutes
, heavy buffer, mag release disabled for Ca. purposes.
I may end up ditching the scope caps for the bikini, that will give me 1/4" more eye relief if needed (scope moved forward)
