PT-3 in .308 with IonBonded bolt - Range Report

Just finished today. Really looking forward to the range trip to test her out. This is my first build with an IonBonded bolt body and handle. So far I really like it, super tough, thin and smoooth.


The Specs:

PT 3 in .308 match

Remington 700 completely trued and with a new PTG ground fluted bolt and high speed firing pin and spring. Bolt body has .002 total clearance (.001 per side).

Welded on bolt handle with tactical bolt knob

Mini M-16 extractor

IonBonded Bolt and Handle

Stock - McMilan A-5 with Gap camo, saddle cheek piece, adjustable LOP, Front stud, 2 flush cups, 2 1.5 "flush mount loops.

Bedded using Devcon

Badger M5 Bottom Metal with 1 5 round AI .308 mag

Barlien 5R Barrel finished at 26" 1-11.25 twist Remington 700P contour

Rifle Basix set at 2 lbs

Baked Cerakote finish in Graphite Black

Holland pinned recoil lug

Got her to the range for a little testing with some 168 Federal GMM. I don't know what there secret sauce is but this stuff has shot good and consistant out of many rifles. All 5 shot groups and at 100 yards off a bi-pod. Just a couple groups to test feed, function and accuracy. Shows lots of promise that it is going to make someone a fine rifle.

Would that equal a 20% discount since it's one in five : )

Just a quick update, I got a chance to weight it and it is 11 lbs 1 ounce with the mag.

Somebody knows where the good wings are at in Johnstown : ) Haven't had them in a while. Makes for a great excuse to get some.
