Has anyone tried the PTG steel trigger guard and hinged floorplate for the newer FN Winchester Model 70?

I'm wondering if the latch is the same or better vs. stock, and I'm wondering how much extra the all-steel unit weighs vs. the aluminum and steel unit that comes stock.

Thanks

Re: PTG Steel bottom metal for FN Model 70

I have both the PTG and a Williams on my FN action. The Willims uses the Oberndorf style floorplate release and the PTG duplicates the factory push button release of the aluminum units. I have had no problems with my PTG release to date. While the Williams has a higher level of fit and finish, it is also over twice the price of the PTG.

I have had the aluminum version on an fn model 70 that I sold. The release button was the same. When reassembling it I actually put the factory button in the bottom metal on accident and it worked just fine.

I know you were asking about the steel but thought this might help a bit. The aluminium was a great upgrade from factory and very very light.

idiot face (great name btw), can you tell me why it was a great upgrade from the factory bottom metal? I think I'm leaning toward aluminum just for weight savings. I think steel is nicer, but I need light weight more than super strength and "niceness."

Sorry for the delayed response, I need to learn how to monitor my thread posts better.

It was a better upgrade in terms of lightness first and strenght second.

The guy that did my ceracoating actually broke the factory bottom metal when re-installing everything and he bought the PTG for me. It will be lighter for sure!
