I have read all the reviews on how bad their customer service is and all the other stuff BUT getting past all that for those who have actually bought/used one of their actions how do they rate overall?

I got one of their blueprinted rem700s w ptg bolt etc for 400 a few years back, it went smoothly and I lucked out with getting a cool one.
If you are talking about the stiller b52s etc then I can’t help there as I want zermatt and arc for my actual aftermarket actions

Edit: I wouldnt order anything from ptg again though unless it was a screaming deal

Take the time to read. Then decide.

I have only purchased a bolt from them, about 10 years ago. They told me the leadtime was going to be 8 weeks and it was pretty close to that. It is still sitting in my parts drawer as I ended up not needing it for the build.

Sorry, but this thread seems like a complete waste of time. The evidence and people's experiences are so completely and overwhelmingly negative, you'd have to be a complete masochist to buy from them. The worst part ? The owner (Kiff) blatantly doesn't give a shit.

You know it's bad when well respected gunsmiths that have had personal relationships with Kiff have disowned him and won't do business with them any more. Big clue right there.

I think we should start recommending them. People that can’t comprehend other’s experiences deserve to get their own “experiences “.

If those actions are Stillers like they appear I would run, stillers are trash. I have had a few and they all had issues. There's several factory actions I would chose over a stiller, including a standard R700.

Regarding ordering anything from PTG... Good luck. You've probably got about the same odds of winning the powerball tonight.

I have a Stiller and a PTG branded Stiller . One in 308 and one in 224 Valkyrie. Both are fine and excellent shooting rifles.

Probably 2 of the most accurate rifles I own. And I have several with much more invested.

Proceed at your own risk of delays and issues with PTG. Nothing wrong with a Stiller action. It was worth the value at the time I purchased them.

Thanks thats all I was asking.

I bought a bolt from them because they were the ONLY game in town besides a custom run with a bushing installed for what I needed. That being said, the bolt is perfect for what it is. I do feel I got lucky with that purchase, and have had some others dealings with ptg not going as smooth.

I generally try to steer clear of them now days but it does appear they have added some astronomical lead times to their website, so that’s good be a buyer beware.

I have a Stiller TAC30 setup for 223AI. LA Precision built it with a 1/4 MOA guarantee, and it performs.

Nowadays I think there are better options on the market.

While there's no question about some of the issues already mentioned in this thread - along with many others in previous threads dedicated to the same subject - I've had some good & not-so-good experiences with PTG since I started doing rifle builds & barrel work in 2005. Four of my own M700 builds have PTG bolts, and I've lost track of how many builds based on M700, Howa, and custom actions I've done for customers & myself that have used their DBMs & other misc parts. When I started gunsmithing, there were no other sources that I knew of for custom bolts & Howa DBMs. I met Dave Kiff at SHOT not long after I started my business, and had a good conversation with him there. Nearly all my chambering reamers came from PTG, and when I've had issues with a couple of them, they were quickly replaced. I've read & heard some pretty disturbing things about the work environment at PTG, and all I can say is that I have no first hand knowledge that would prove or disprove whether it's true or not. All I can honestly say is that they helped me get started, and have continued to provide some of the parts that I need and can find no other source for.
If I weren't so pleased with the relationship I've had with Mike Bush & the folks at Vudoo Gun Works and the six V22 repeater & single shot actions of my own, I'd probably try to get one of their 22RF 40X clones to build on.
