Hey guys,

I see a lot of tactical rifles on here with big 4" lense shades, and some without. I'm wondering what advantage the lense shade gives you as I've never used one. Also, is there a performance difference between the shorter 2.5" and longer 4" shades?

Thanks,
John

Fire your rifle in the northern hemisphere facing south during mid-day from the months of October thru April for a good understanding, or east any time of hear in the early AM or west any time of year in the late PM.

He's in WA, the sun never shines here....we need rain shades.

This is the main reason I used them on BR guns until I went to a mirage band. Finally ended up using a piece of venecian blind, velcroed to the barrel.

Re: Purpose of lense shade?

It can also perform a similar function as an ARD. Provided the sunshade is as long as the lens' diameter is wide, you'd have to be within a fairly narrow "window" to get any reflection off the lens. The longer the shade, the more directly you'd have to be viewing the lens from head on to see it or get a reflection, etc. For my purposes, though, it's to reduce glare through the scope during use, and they look cool.
