i just installed my new manners stock. once i got everything together, i noticed that the little bolt release tab is now kind of loose. the tab itself has some play in it before actually making contact with the bolt release and it will jingle around some. anyone know what i can do to fix that? what did i do wrong?

thanks

what gun..assuming a 700? Sounds like a sping is missing possibly assembled incorrectly. If its a 700 I'll check mine when I get home today...you'll probably get the answer by then though.

Once you actually make contact with the bolt stop, is there any spring action?

Sounds like the dogleg shaped spring is lost, broken or just moved out of place. Or the stock inlet is just catching the back of the bolt stop. Either way its a simple fix that you can do.

i called manners today to ask them about the problem. he said i should drop the barreled action back in the old stock. if its tight in the old stock, everything is good to go. he said their stocks have a little more room in there to allow for aftermarket triggers. he said this extra room could be why the little tab feels loose in the new stock.

now that you mention it, when I put my 700 into a McMillan 40x stock, I had the same problem. Forgot about that since it didn't affect anything.
