Rifle Scopes QD mount

Re: QD mount

Larue SPR-S LT-158 (also has 10moa of forward cant)

44mm objective USO. It can also do 50mm and 56mm. 50mm will still work with butler creeks. I'm thinking that the 56mm might not work with a butler creek since I had to mod my NXS bikini cover and it barely fit.

Re: QD mount

So it'll be some 1/4" above the rail, I guess. I should be able to work with cantilever mounts, the rail being monolithic and all. (SL8 rifle)

It sure looks good on your gun. What is your experience on repeatability?

I would highly recommend the DLOC-M4X-30 made by Alamo Four Star if you want absolute repeatability of your zero and larger positive mounting surface area and no damage to your rail, unlike LaRue's throw-lever system which grinds away the rail each time you loosen and tighten the lever.

Re: QD mount

I looked for that one but there doesn't seem to be an actual product page yet. I'd also like to know the height of that mount over the rail, it seems a bit tall from the picture.

I'd like to mount a scope as low as possible because the SL8 already has a tall rail, unlike the AR-15 for which a lot of those mounts are intended.

I could e-mail you a .pdf with specs...

Re: QD mount

Oh, the SL8 has such a high rail to begin with, I'd look into getting the lowest profile rail for it.

I've never had an issue with repeatability using the larue mounts. They do rub a bit on the rail where the lever cams over. BUT, this isn't even where the entire throwlever's foot actually fully rests. It has 2/3rds of the foot holding on an area that will look untouched. For me, the rubbing is just a functional part of the way the system works. It's more like it polishes it. I don't worry about a bit of worn anodizing on my charging handle, or the cam pin cutout. I'm not going to worry about it on a small section of rail.

I go back and forth between day and night optic on this setup and it works great.

I just sent the specs via e-mail; would you please confirm you received the .pdf file?

Re: QD mount

Thanks, B. I recieved the file.

It's true what salmon says, it's a rather high rail and a 1.5" tall mount raises the optic about an extra .6" over the rail. I wonder why there aren't any low-profile single-piece mounts even though a lot of them look like they could be easily made so.

Now I don't need any cant in the mount, so I started looking into QD rings as an alternative.

Re: QD mount

Might be good for you to know that there is a number of various heights for the rails to SL8 ( I assume that G36 rails fit.)
HK, B&T have bother a number of rails.
We make a rail to and can soon deliver it.

WOW another smart person who knows Lapoops are leaving more than grease on your rails.
Stay away from larue like the plague.

Thanks for the offer but I already have a low rail. Due to the way it mounts there is a limit to that, so I'll have to get the rest out of the rings.
