I was recently able to shoot an OBR with a Surefire QD suppressor. What a sweet setup. I was talking with the owner (a trainer whose name many of you would recognize) and picking his brain RE: his equipment choices. I was asking him about accuracy, and he told me for that type of work, he still preferred the QD Surefire as he did not need to worry about the screw on can coming loose and potentially causing a baffle strike, etc.
I was fortunate to be able to shoot this rig, and had no problem making hits at 955 yds. Recoil was basically non-existent. I have two questions:
1) With a screw on supressor, on an OBR used as a precison LR rifle (and fired at a moderate rate of fire) do I need to be worried about the suppressor loosening up?
2) Are there other (less expensive) QD type options that would be as accurate when teamed with the OBR (all else being equal)?
I'd be using the setup to compete in local/regional tactical/practical/sniper competitions. Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom.
