Why aren't they more common? Referring to something like this that doesn't leave an adapter hard mounted to each rifle.

Are they less stable than the permanent arca Swiss plates like RRS and others use or am I just old school in that most of my guns have a rail section available where I could clamp it in quickly with the Bison Tactical mount?

I'd rather go with the Bison over having to buy an adapter to leave on every gun I want to use with the tripod but just want to know if there's some drawback I'm missing.

I have no experience with them as far as durability. The one downside that I see is that my spotting scope, binoculars, rangefinder and cameras don’t have picatinny rails on them and it’s easier to put arca plates on those items than it would be pic rails. I like being able to use my tripod for more than just my rifle.
