Rifle Scopes quality optics for a hunting rifle

I am considering a nice scope for a 7mmRM. It now has a Leuppy VX-II 4-12x40. I was looking to spend $600-$800.
Tactical turrets would be nice for the real long shots,but I think the optical quality would be more useful.

I'm not going to tell you what scope to buy, but if you think there is a vast difference in "optical quality" between scopes costing $600-800, then you are in for a disappointment.

If you are talking tactical turrets, and $600-800 price range then, this is your universe:

Nikon Monarch X 2.5-10x42mm Tactical
Bushnell 6500 2.5x16x42mm Tactical
Bushnell 4200 6-24x50mm Tactical
Sightron SIII 3.5x10x44mm Tactical
Super Sniper 3-9x42mm FFP MIL/MIL
IOR 2.5x10x42mm SFP
Vortex Viper 6.5x20x44mm & 50mm
Leupold 4.5x14x40mm MK4 PR

Those are all in your price range, with tactical turrets and a mildot reticle. We could argue till doomsday which of them has the "best quality glass" in that price target, but all will do the job you have in mind.

Discernible optical quality improvements over the above bunch, starts at about the $1500. price range and goes up from there.
