Re: Question About Expander
Yes and no. Most folks here feel that using the standard or even larger pull through ball increases the chances of excess bullet runout. If you wish to expand the necks to reduce the excessive constriction caused by the full length sizer, it is considered best practice to use a dedicated tapered expander after full length sizing...removing the standard pull out expander and just using the die as a sizer and decapper. An alternative presents with the use of 1: a full length sizer that uses bushings to size the neck down only enough...about .002..under the measured loaded round. or 2: Forster, and maybe other die makers will hone out the full length die to give you the custom fit you desire. Forster charges about $17 for the service. Be sure to clean the inside of the case necks after firing...use a wire brush or brush with 0000 steel wool wrapped around it. Some of us like to lube the inside of the necks before loading with graphite lock ease or HxBN suspended in alcohol. That seems to even out the pressures and reduce run-out also. JMHO
