Rifle Scopes Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

I have the chance to pick up a US optics scope with the PCMOA reticle and MOA knobs. I just wanted to make sure that the knob clicks match up with the PCMOA reticle. I've read on this forum that there is a difference between true MOA (1.047 inches at 100 yards) and shooters MOA (1 inch at 100 yards). I'm assuming that this won't be an issue with a great scope company like US Optics, but I thought I would just ask.

Re: Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

Kombar - I guess what I want to know is that if the PCMOA reticle is calibrated in IPHY, will each click of the 1/4 MOA elevation knob be 1/4 of an inch at 100 yards or 1/4 of 1.047 inches at 100 yards. There is roughly a 5% difference that will be greatly magnified at distance if they don't match up. Thanks for your help.

Re: Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

Hate to beat a dead horse, but I just want to make sure before I drop a lot of coin on a scope. If the reticle is IPHY, then the elevation knob will adjust the point of impact 1/4 inch at 100 yards for each click (not 1/4 of 1.047 inch). Sorry if this is annoying anyone, but I'm just a good ole Texas Hill Country boy that is new to shooting out past 300 yards.

Re: Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

USO has one or more reticles that are true MOA....but most of the non-Mil reticles are IPHY.

I believe all USO scope adjustments match the reticles or fractions of them. If you get an IPHY reticle, adjustments will be full or fractional IPHY, not MOA. If you order a true MOA reticle the adjustments will be full or fractional MOA.

Re: Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

I have a PCMOA on mine and it is IPHY and the turrets do match. I remember asking the same question a few years ago when I bought it. I also double checked the reticle and clicks against a tape measure at 100 yards and evrything was perfect just as I suspected USO to deliver. You won't be sorry with your purchase

Re: Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

Thanks Rafeal. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. And thanks to the other readers that didn't give me a bunch of s$&# for asking a newb question.

Re: Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

As stated above. I have 2 USO's w/ PCMOA reticle.
It is calibrated in IPHY, and the knobs are IPHY as well.
Checked it myself against a yardstick @ 100 yards.
100% spot on. Reticle as well as tracking of the adjustments.
BUY IT :)

+1 on that for mine as well

Re: Question about US Optics PCMOA reticle

I'm about to order a USO and im going over this same topic in my head.

Coming from a moa/moa NF i would like to keep it the same, unfortunately i like USOs IPHY reticles better than their true moa ones.

I'm probably making this more complicated than i need to but just want to make sure i have this iphy thing right.

6.5creedmoor @1000

1000yard-30 moa

1000y-30*1.047= 31.4 iphy/moa

When spotting for another shooter and the shot is 3iphy right on the pcmoa reticle at 1000y. Would it be roughly 2.86 true moa?

Math was never my best subject so thanks in advance.

Yes, your math is correct.

If you want to run ballistic tables in in/100yd instead of true MOA, use the http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj-5.1.cgi and change the units towards the bottom (JBM allows all sorts of different unit outputs: cm, cm/100, in, in/100, mil, moa)
