I've previously run a 20 MOA Leupold standard 1 piece base that has adjustable windage on the back ring itself. I did this so I could run the scope mechanically zeroed for windage (otherwise I had to crank in 15 MOA Left to zero windage) I just changed to a 20 MOA nightforce base that I bedded to my reciever in preparation for the arrival of my new NightForce NXS 3.5-15x50 MLR Milrad High Speed Zero Stop. Using my old scope with some MK 4 rings I again had to crank in 15 MOA left to zero the scope the new base, no suprise! I know that I could get a gunsmith to open the holes and try to correct it, but I was looking for opinions:

With 80 MOA adjustment range in windage for the Nightforece (so you figure 40 each way) will losing 15 MOA on one side, leaving me with 25 MOA adjustment to the left make that big of a deal?

I'm leaning towards it probably won't matter that much since there is still plenty of adjustment, but does being that far off mechanical zero make a difference?

thanks,
John

Re: Question about windage adjustment on my rifle

I never dial windage at all, unless the wind exceeds my ability to hold it on a 5 milliradian reticle - which only happens at extreme distance with very high winds.

Given that 25 MOA at 1000 yards is about 22 feet, I don't think you're going to have a problem.
