What are the screwdriver bit sizes used for mounting this action into various stocks? I guess 3/16" hex and T30 is pretty much common for action screws. Would you be so kind to suggest other bit sizes? I'm thinking of configuring a very compact tool kit for Rem 700 action variety of rifles (M24, etc.), and would be very grateful for input from SH members.
Kit will likely include very inexpensive, but high quality single setting precision torque limiter, set up for 65 inch-lbs. Do I also need to consider torque limiter in 45 inch-lbs.? Thank you.

It would probably be beneficial to have optic mounting pieces. You would need 18 in/lbs for the caps. I dont see the need for 45 in/lbs but thats just me...

Thank you.

MG5,6,9 multi torque driver kits have everything needed for both actions and scopes. I mean to offer much less expensive torque kit dedicated to very popular Rem action.

Re: Question for Rem 700 action experts

The aluminum/pot metal bottom metal that Remington uses will possibly crack @ 65"lbs? Especially if not bedded properly with pillars. 45 inch pds is more realistic for factory pieces but 65 inch lbs works great with steel lower parts. Even my factory pillar bedded stocks I only torque to 45 at most. YMMV

Isn't Rem factory hex heads 5/32??? or am I getting more senile than I realize?

Re: Question for Rem 700 action experts

You're correct, factory Rem fasteners use heads with 5/32" hex socket.

What about "old style" slotted head fasteners? Anybody can help with measuring the dims of the screwdriver slot? I have a nice bit, 5/16" wide x 0.055" thick, hollow ground, will it work?
