Gunsmithing question for the cerakote masters :)

Okay...I've got a couple of AR builds that I'm going to be doing some cerakote on here in my shop (building my own oven this weekend). The question I'm wondering if someone can answer is this:

How does one go about cerakoting a free float fore-end? Do you media blast the whole thing? How do you spray the inside of the tube?

Okay, so maybe not a cerakote specific question, more of a painting question. My detail gun wouldn't be able to give me a smooth finish down the entire inside of a freefloat tube, so I'm just wondering how one goes about painting the inside...do you use something other than an HVLP detail gun, or is there just a technique I don't know?

Thanks in advance folks :)

I've done it 2 ways. Just blast it and shoot from out side the best you can. Usually you can't hardly tell about the inside. Or take cardboard or construction paper and roll it up and slide it up inside the tube like a sleeve. That leaves the inside with the factory black finish untouched. Hope this helps. Tooter

How long is the fore end tube? most of the time you can close your fan all the way and open your material knob a little and up the pressure to help get down in the tube further. You will need enough material coming out so you dont get dry spray. If its to long, you can do what tmx suggested.
