Question for the rimfire gurus

Guys,

I just found a pawnshop find. A Rem Sportmaster 512. It has some rust on the barrel and some stock dings. But, the most painfull, the front sight has been ground flush with the barrel.

I am going to shoot it and maybe if it shoots, try my hand at the "chicken shoots". I am looking for a replacement barrel and have checked Numrich, and Bob's Parts in GA.

Anyone know any other possible sources?

Thanks.

Re: Question for the rimfire gurus

Why not just have a gunsmith dovetail the barrel or add a dovetailed base to the barrel so you can install a globe or fiber optic front sight? As long as the bore is good, that gun should shoot fine, and the gunsmithing I recommended would cost a lot less than having a new barrel installed.

I am going to shoot it, but I would like to refinish it. I would like to have another barrel.
