looking for an Iphone ballistics app worth a sh**t mainly to help calculate mildots thats not overly expensive just curious let me know thanks

I like "Bullet Flight" its inexpensive and easy to work check it out on the apps site, well worth it in ease of use and utility. Uses Mils or MOA whatever you want.

I have both BulletFlight and Ballistic FTE, they both have their good things about them. For me at the moment, Ballistic seems to be way more in depth. here's another discussion going on as well:

I use Ballistic FTE and it put me on steel first try at 300 and 400 and 3 clicks off steel at 500 in a pretty decent wind. the steel was a 8 X 11 hanger.

i use Ballistic FTE. It put me dead on at every hundred yards from 400-1000 using both my 7wsm and my 243AI.
Was amazed to say the least. Now that it has the JBM system, it is the best in my opinion.

The interface for Mildot holdovers/wind adjustments etc are the only reason I keep the program.

The interface for Mildot holdovers/wind adjustments etc are the only reason I keep the program.

I used the one called "Ballistic" it works great. You can range, range input data, data tables and so much more...all for 9.99. Do not regret it.

iSnipe is alright, kind of slow compared to Ballistic and BulletFlight though. Personally, I prefer Ballistic: FTE. It's much more in depth than BulletFlight, $10 cheaper, and the FTE version incorporates what they call a Heads Up Display, which is similar to the Calculate Simple on BulletFlight. I'm working on a write up of all 5 of the ballistic calculator apps for the iPhone, should be done in a day or two. I'll post the link when I finish it up.
ETA: One nice thing that iSnipe has that the others don't is a holdover reference. It doesn't have the range calculator that Ballistic and BulletFlight have though.

ballistic is a more comprehensive program than bulletflight. it will account for just about every variable you can fathom. it a bit overkill for most, including me, but a very good educational tool; that is why i downloaded it

I first got the ISnipe, looked great at first, until I got BulletFlight.. I noticed that there was much difference in the two apps. ISnipe was way of compared 2 BulletFlight, and the worst thing is I could not see any probs before getting the second app. But as I found out, on my Lapua Scenar 167gr bullets in ISnipe that round, under same conditions ran sub-sonic @ 600-700 meters, about 1000 meters in BulletFlight, that gave me at 600 meters, 7,3 mRad up in ISnipe, 5,2 mRad ind BulletFlight..
If I had not compared those two, I would have had a hard time figuring what went wrong on the range..
Now I also got Ballistic, but I can't figure it out yet, guess I'll stick with Bulletflight

Bulletflight is the first ballistic software program i have used so I can't give you comparisons to others but it is extremely easy to use and so far has been spot on with my 300winmag and gap 308 out to 1000yds. I would definately endorse this program for the iphone/itouch.

I was getting really strange results for my initial calculations, even after rechecking the inputs. So I reset the inputs to the "Default" values, started over, and finally got reasonable numbers. I think there is a way to get into trouble and not realize what's happening. Luckily, my results were so far off that I realized there was an error -- so far, I don't know what happened.
Ballistic FTE on my iTouch is definitely nicer than ExBal on my old Palm Zire. I hope Perry will get ExBal going for the Apple handhelds.

When approaching a different ballistic program, it's a good idea to have at least one set of field data to compare the output of the new program to. If you get results which look funny, you probably have something incorrectly set up.

Ballistic FTE hands down, the work Jonathan Zdziarski and the guys over at JBM continuously do to improve the software makes sure that you have an updated product at all times.. price is absolutely moderate and upgrades are free.

Iv downloaded the two free ones the Winchester Ballistic Calculator and the Istrelock and they aren't very good they are pretty basic and dont have much information but again you get what you pay for. Im not too sure about the other KOC and FTE apps. But Im sure they are a lot better than the freebies.

I would not mount my iPhone to the weapon for a number of reasons, but #1 would be the fact that it is not "ruggedized" like military electronics are. I seriously doubt it's ability to endure hundreds of rounds through a high power rifle. We take great pains to protect them from the relatively light shock of falling from ear height.
If you find a mount, make sure it's shock isolated.

KAC makes a rail mounted ipod/iphone mount IF you have the Otter case to go with it, but it costs $160 or so,
which is outrageous.

In Isnipe it will calculate holds for movers, I like that!
BulletFlight is fast and easy to use, its my favorite
BallasticFTE is the most complex, the data is good, but the time to get to it slow compared to BulletFlight
8gb Itouch will work no problem, but it will not get local conditions, only the Iphone will do that.

I picked up the bullet flight app. Have any of you had any luck with computing your own BC's by entering your real world drop data? Have those calculated BC's worked better than the factory ones? Im just curious if its worth spending the time to get custom BC's or not.
I have brian litz's software and with using factory BC's its very accurate to 600 yds or so, but off a fair amount past that. im not using his G7's but the factory G7's and G1's.
