Re: question - .mil scope and clicks @600y 8 clicks?
You are sort of right, but you are on the wrong track on how to do this...
Why even bother to discuss inches since you are using mils and why do all that long hand math.
if you want to start yourself on the right foot,
First when you zero your rifle invest in a chronograph, even a cheaper one, and get an actual muzzle velocity. Then you can have actual dope for your rifle and not a generic set of numbers the scope manual gave you.
If this is not an option, and even if it is, I suggest rolling over to JBM Ballistics on the internet and putting your data in there changing the output to mils. There is a link to JBM on the front page of Sniper's Hide.
You can input your data, if you have actual muzzle velocity that is the best, but if not you can use what the manufacturer says as a starting point. 2700fps is probably a good starting point. Then simply tell JBM at the bottom to output your data in mils, you can then print the card.
It will be slightly off and as you develop actual dope you can fine turn your mil data.
Converting from inches is the long way around things. If you have your drop in MOA you can easily divide it by 3.43 and get your actual MOA drop in MILS. As an example 16 MOA (which is pretty close for 600yards) is 4.6 Mils so you are saying 4.8 which means you'll be in the ballpark.
But you are close,
