I've never competed in a practical rifle match just alot of NRA Bullseye, IPSC, USPSA, etc. handgun matches.

I am looking to have a precision rifle built, and would like it to be suitable for these matches since many of them aren't too far from me in Texas.

Is there any trigger pull weight requirement for practical matches? I've had a hard time finding the rules for past matches on the web. So if those could be linked to as well I would appreciate it!

thank you!

Re: question on match rules?

That's because there really are no rules. Tactical/Sniper matches are not governed by anyone and rules change from match to match.

That said the main rule for all is safety. If you are looking for a trigger weight then keep it in the 2.5-3.5lbs range. It's light enough to be accurate but not so light it will cause NDs and get you kicked out of the match.

Re: question on match rules?

If there is a match that you would like to shoot in, check the ranges site for their range rules. That will give you a base idea of what they expect. Example: "Rifle must have operational safety", "Chamber Empty Indicator must be used while not on the rifing line", "No Bolt in rifle when not on the firing line", ect....

Other than that +2 on what Rob said....
