Rifle Scopes Question on MOA

Hello all,

I have what is likely a NOOB question. Attached is a pic of a 3 shot group I printed today at the range with my .300AAC.

My optics are low end, all I can afford for now. Leupold MARK AR 3x9 40mm, and the turret adjustments are 1 click = 1/2 MOA at 100.

This group was at 50 yards. I am looking to make my POI match my POA. I need to come UP about .643" and RIGHT .401" to be in the center.

1 click on optics= 1/2 MOA at 100, which is about 1/2" at 100 correct?

SO, to correctly adjust my optics, I am thinking 3 UP and 2 Right as these shots were at 50 yards.

That would put me IN at 50 yards correct?

Appreciate the help with a rookie question. I now can see BENEFIT of optics that offer 1 click = 1/4 or 1/8 MOA.

Chris

0.26175" to be exact. :)

So 3 clicks would be 0.78525", 2 clicks = 0.5235". Assuming you are EXACTLY at 50 yards :)

BUT, that assumes that your turrets are true MOA, not shooter's MOA (IPHY).

If they are shooter's MOA, then 1 click at 50 yards = 0.250"

Shooter's MOA is 1.000" at 100 yards.

Of course, if you want the rifle to be rifle to be zeroed at 50 yards. If you want it zeroed at 100 yards, then you will have to either shoot it at 100 yards or use a ballistics computer to get the elevation correct at 100 yards.
