hello guys, this is my first time on snipers hide and i put this same question on another spot on this site from finding on google then relized i replied to an old topic. anyway i have had my 110 ba 338 LM for about a month now and have realy enjoyed it. been reloading and getting a good load worked up. but i have noticed a little nipple mark on the shoulder of my brass. at first i thought it was just the brass maby, hoping not considering it is nosler brass and they make a good product. put 50 rounds through it and the same mark was on all 50 of them in the same spot. i came out yesterday and was shooting again now that brass is fire formed and used rcbs gold metel bushing die to size neck and bump shoulder back. getting a good group and im happy but now there is another nipple on shoulder of brass in a differant spot horisontaly but same verticaly on brass. i knew it had to be forming to the chamber. called savage and asked if there is soppost to be a small 1mm size indention in chamber, they say look at and call back. anyway there is a little perfectly round indention in chamber that i can see with a flash light. it is exactly at 3 O-clock if you are looking into chamber. it does not seem to be affecting anything other than brass and may mess up my headspace. i have not made up any crazy loads at all. going by the book on my loads other than my over all length b/c the chamber is 3.7295 with sierra 300gr MK and i have my C.O.L. at 3.7200. and retumbo powder under 94gr. do any of you guys know about this and im guessing it is not soppost to be there but if someone with same rifle can look at there camber or there shot brass for me that would be awsome. sorry for the lengthy post. thanks alot

Re: Question on my 110 ba 338 LM

ya sounds like same deal, just that mine is protruding out of case shoulder into small dimple or whole/pit in chamber. have you ever delt with having warranty work done to any of your firearms. but ya im going to call savage again tomaro and talk to them about sending back to them.

Re: Question on my 110 ba 338 LM

My BA110 sounds like it has the same thing. I have not looked in the barrel to see the spot, but my brass always has a very small divot about half way up on the shoulder. Never really concerned me though because it still chambers fine, and shoots good. But I always wounder if it would shoot better, or if the divot could cause a slight miss alignment of the cartridge. Like I said though it shoots. Usually well under MOA, most of the time .5 MOA. Now I Wonder even more.

Re: Question on my 110 ba 338 LM

ya look in the chamber at 3 O-clock to see if you can see a void or a small whole where the shoulder lays. but in is a protuding nipple coming out of the brass forming into the whole or divot in chamber, not a divot into the brass. for now it is just factory ammo and should not matter on once 1st fired round other than maby a presure alignment problem. but if you were to start reloading and want to bump back head space and size neck. then that nipple or many nippils, (1 nipple per fire. then they could make for a miss alignment in headspace and non efficiant preasure. and the man thing for me is, I realy like my other f class savage 308 and i bought the 110 ba b/c it is a savage and wanted same quality of rifle as there f/tr model 308. $2000.00 rifle tells me i want the perfection that there other rifles have. not talking smack on savage though at all. im sending it to them today and im sure they will take care of it for me.

Re: Question on my 110 ba 338 LM

Just looked in my chamber and could not see any thing. However it is a nipple that protrudes from the brass into (I assume) a void/hole in the chamber. I am on THE 3rd of 4th reloading of my brass, and the nipple does not multiply on each firing because chamber pressure smoothes it out in the old spot and pushes out in a new spot every time. I'm sure we are experiancing the same thing, and I would like to get it fixed. However my experiance w/ getting firearm manufactures to repiar problems has not been good. So i am hesitant to send it back and be without it for god only knows how long. And I have several hundred rounds of load development and dope verification out to 1 mile already done on this barrel, which im sure will change if any thing else is done. If any one who knows better could chime in, it would be nice. If its not hurting any thing I would probaly roll with it. Or try to convice the wife its time for a custom tube on my brand new 2k$ rifle. longdistance let me know how savage takes care of you if you go that route.

Re: Question on my 110 ba 338 LM

ya, so far it is going good with savage. I talked to a guy there 2day and he was very nice. just wanted my s/n to rifle and then was very willing to e-mail me a pick up slip to ups for shiping to them and paid for buy them. also he sounded very interested in what was wrong when he found out it was a 110 ba 338 lapua. I undersand what your saying though on already having a good round for it and all set up and know your rifle. but i'v only had mine for about 1 month and i dont want it wearing my brass out, b/c it is kinda expensave. it is shooting good like this though, so it would just be fine with me if it will get even better.
